Returns, Refunds & Right of Withdrawal

We want you to be happy with your purchase. This policy explains voluntary returns, refunds, damaged or defective items, digital content, subscriptions, personalised and custom-made items, and the statutory right of withdrawal where it applies.

Please include your order number whenever you contact us about a return, refund, withdrawal, exchange, subscription, or damaged, defective, or incorrect item. We can only process a request once the relevant order can be identified.

If an order contains different types of products, each product is treated according to the section that applies to it. For example, a physical book, a digital audiobook, and a personalised item may be treated differently.

Digital Content

Legal basis: § 356(5) BGB; Art. 246a § 1(3) EGBGB.

Digital content, including ebooks and audiobooks, is made available automatically after checkout by our distribution partner BookFunnel.

Where digital content is not supplied on a tangible medium and the required consent and acknowledgement have been given during checkout, purchases of digital content are excluded from the right of withdrawal.

If you have trouble accessing your digital content, please email help@bookfunnel.com and include:

  • your order number;
  • the name and email address used for the order;
  • the title of the digital product;
  • a short description of the problem;
  • screenshots or error messages, if available.

Please do not use the withdrawal process for technical access problems. Contact us first so we can help you access the digital content you purchased.

Subscriptions and Recurring Deliveries

Legal basis, where applicable: § 312k BGB; §§ 355, 356 BGB; Art. 246a § 1 EGBGB; Annex 1 to Art. 246a § 1(2) sentence 2 EGBGB.

Subscription cancellation and statutory withdrawal are different processes.

If you want to cancel a subscription for future billing periods or future deliveries, please use the subscription cancellation option provided in your customer account, where available, or contact us at support (at) hunterlassal (dot) com.

Please include:

  • your order number or subscription number;
  • the name and email address used for the subscription;
  • the subscription you want to cancel;
  • whether you want to cancel future renewals only or need help with a specific order or delivery.

Cancellation of a subscription stops future billing periods or future deliveries according to the applicable subscription terms. It does not automatically withdraw or refund purchases, digital content, or physical items that have already been provided, shipped, or made available.

For subscriptions that include digital content made available automatically after checkout, the digital-content rules above apply.

For subscriptions that involve the regular delivery of physical goods over a defined period, the statutory withdrawal period begins when you, or a third party nominated by you who is not the carrier, have taken possession of the first good.

If you believe a subscription item is damaged, defective, incorrect, or was not provided properly, please contact us under the relevant section below and include your order number or subscription number.

Personalised and Custom-Made Items

Legal basis: § 312g(2) No. 1 BGB.

Personalised and custom-made items include, for example, requested artwork and items with a requested dedication.

These items are excluded from voluntary returns and from the right of withdrawal where they are made to the customer’s individual specification or clearly tailored to personal needs.

If a personalised or custom-made item is damaged, defective, or incorrect, please email support (at) hunterlassal (dot) com and include:

  • your order number;
  • the name and email address used for the order;
  • a description of the issue;
  • photographs of the item and packaging, where relevant;
  • any relevant communication about the requested artwork, dedication, or customisation.

Statutory rights for damaged, defective, or incorrect items remain unaffected.

Voluntary 30-Day Return Policy for Physical Products

This is a voluntary return policy offered by our shop. It does not limit any statutory rights.

In addition to any statutory rights you may have, we offer a voluntary 30-day return policy for eligible physical products.

To be eligible for a voluntary return, the item must be in the same condition in which you received it, unused, with tags where applicable, and in its original packaging. You will also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

To start a voluntary return, please email support (at) hunterlassal (dot) com before sending anything back.

Please include:

  • your order number;
  • the name and email address used for the order;
  • the item you want to return;
  • whether the item is unopened and in its original condition;
  • a short note that you are requesting a voluntary return.

If your voluntary return is accepted, we will send you instructions on how to proceed.

Items sent back without first requesting a voluntary return may not be accepted.

Items Excluded from Voluntary Returns

Voluntary returns do not apply to:

  • digital content, including ebooks and audiobooks;
  • subscriptions for digital content that has already been made available;
  • personalised items;
  • custom-made products, including requested artwork and special orders;
  • gift cards;
  • sale items, including B-grade sale items, unless otherwise stated.

If you believe an excluded item is damaged, defective, incorrect, or was not provided properly, please email support (at) hunterlassal (dot) com and include:

  • your order number;
  • the name and email address used for the order;
  • a description of the issue;
  • photographs, screenshots, or error messages where relevant.

Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

Legal basis, depending on the product: §§ 434, 437 BGB for physical goods; §§ 327e, 327i BGB for digital products.

Please inspect your order when you receive it and contact us as soon as possible if an item is damaged, defective, or incorrect.

  • your order number;
  • the name and email address used for the order;
  • a description of the issue;
  • photographs of the damaged, defective, or incorrect item, where possible;
  • photographs of the packaging, where shipping damage may be involved;
  • screenshots or error messages, where the issue concerns digital content.

We will review the issue and let you know whether a replacement, refund, repair, renewed provision, or another solution is appropriate.

Please do not send physical items back before receiving return instructions from us.

Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

Statutory Right of Withdrawal for Consumers

Legal basis: § 312g(1) BGB; § 355 BGB; § 356 BGB; Art. 246a § 1(2) EGBGB; Annex 1 to Art. 246a § 1(2) sentence 2 EGBGB.

If you are a consumer and the contract concerns the delivery of physical goods, you have the right to withdraw from the contract within fourteen days without giving any reason, unless a statutory exception applies.

The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day on which you, or a third party nominated by you who is not the carrier, have taken possession of the goods.

If you ordered several goods as part of one order and they are delivered separately, the withdrawal period begins on the day on which you, or a third party nominated by you who is not the carrier, have taken possession of the last good.

If a good is delivered in several partial shipments or pieces, the withdrawal period begins on the day on which you, or a third party nominated by you who is not the carrier, have taken possession of the last partial shipment or the last piece.

If the contract concerns the regular delivery of physical goods over a defined period, the withdrawal period begins on the day on which you, or a third party nominated by you who is not the carrier, have taken possession of the first good.

by means of a clear statement, for example by letter or email, of your decision to withdraw from the contract. You may use the model withdrawal form below, but this is not obligatory.

Please include your order number so we can assign the withdrawal to the correct order.

You may also exercise your right of withdrawal online using the withdrawal function provided in this shop: link to withdrawal function.

Legal basis for the online withdrawal function: § 356a BGB; Art. 246a § 1(2) EGBGB.

If you use the online withdrawal function, the order number is required so the withdrawal can be assigned to the correct order. If the order number is available in your customer account, it may be added automatically. If you are not logged in or the order number cannot be retrieved automatically, you must enter it manually.

If you use the online withdrawal function, we will send you an acknowledgement of receipt on a durable medium, for example by email, without undue delay. This acknowledgement will contain information on the content of your withdrawal declaration as well as the date and time of receipt.

To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.

Consequences of Withdrawal

Legal basis: § 355(3) BGB; § 357 BGB.

If you withdraw from the contract, we shall reimburse all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery, except for any additional costs resulting from your choice of a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us.

We will make the reimbursement without undue delay and no later than fourteen days from the day on which we are informed of your decision to withdraw from the contract.

We will use the same means of payment that you used for the original transaction unless expressly agreed otherwise. You will not incur any fees as a result of the reimbursement.

We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or until you have supplied evidence that you have sent the goods back, whichever is earlier.

You must send back the goods or hand them over to us without undue delay and no later than fourteen days from the day on which you informed us of your withdrawal from the contract.

The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the fourteen-day period has expired.

Please include your order number inside the return parcel or on the return note so we can match the returned goods to your order.

You will bear the direct cost of returning the goods.

You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics, and functioning of the goods.

Refunds

Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you whether the refund has been approved.

If you are contacting us about a refund, please email support (at) hunterlassal (dot) com and include:

  • your order number;
  • the name and email address used for the order;
  • the item or order concerned;
  • whether the refund concerns a voluntary return, withdrawal, damaged or defective item, incorrect item, subscription, or digital-access problem.

If approved, the refund will be made to your original payment method unless expressly agreed otherwise.

Once we have issued a refund, it may take several business days for the amount to appear in your account. The timing depends on your payment provider, card issuer, or bank and is outside our control.

If more than 15 business days have passed since we approved your refund, please contact us at support (at) hunterlassal (dot) com and include your order number.

Exchanges

We replace items only if they are defective, damaged, or incorrect.

If you need an exchange for the same item, please email support (at) hunterlassal (dot) com and include:

  • your order number;
  • the name and email address used for the order;
  • the item concerned;
  • a description of the issue;
  • photographs, where possible.

Please do not send physical items back before receiving return or exchange instructions from us.

Return Shipping

For voluntary returns, please email support (at) hunterlassal (dot) com for instructions before sending anything back.

Please include:

  • your order number;
  • the name and email address used for the order;
  • the item you want to return;
  • a short note that you are requesting return shipping instructions.

Unless otherwise stated or required by law, you are responsible for the direct cost of returning the item.

Please include your order number inside the return parcel or on the return note.

For higher-value items, we recommend using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We cannot guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

Model Withdrawal Form

Legal basis: Annex 2 to Art. 246a § 1(2) sentence 1 No. 1 EGBGB.

If you want to withdraw from the contract, you may fill out this form and send it back to us. Use of this form is not obligatory.
